1st March

Zero Discrimination Day

Zero Discrimination Day is celebrated globally on 1 March every year. This day is celebrated to promote equality before the law and in practice throughout all of the member countries of the UN. The symbol of Zero Discrimination Day is the butterfly. The day was first celebrated on March 1, 2014, and was launched by UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé on 27 February.

World Civil Defence day

World Civil Defence Day or civil protection is an effort to protect the citizens of the state from military attacks and natural disasters. It is celebrated on 1st March every year. The day was incorporated in 1990 by the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO). The theme of world civil defence day 2020 was “ civil defence and the first aider in every home”.

3rd March

World Wildlife Day

The day is celebrated globally on 3rd March to promote awareness of the world’s wild flora and fauna. The theme of world wildlife day 2020 is “sustaining all life on earth”.

World Hearing Day

World Hearing Day is a campaign initiated by the Office of Prevention of Blindness and Deafness of the WHO. The objective of this campaign is to spread information and promote actions towards the prevention of hearing loss and improved hearing care. At first, the day was celebrated in 2007. The theme of the campaign for 2020 is “Hearing for Life. Don’t let hearing loss limit you”.

4th March

National Safety Day

National safety day is celebrated in India on 4th March to celebrate the foundation of the National Safety Council of India. The objective of national safety day is to ensure that both safety and health are maintained in the work culture and lifestyle of the employees. The Theme of National Safety day 2020 is “Enhance Health & Safety Performance by Use of Advanced Technology“.

8th March

International Women Day

International Women’s Day is celebrated on the 8th of March every year around the world.

This day is observed to celebrate the social, economic, and political achievements of women.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2020 is, I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.

Ramakrishna Jayanti

Ramakrishna Jayanti is celebrated in honour of a well-known and revered saint by the name of Ramakrishna during the period between 1836 to 1886.

10th March

CISF Raising Day

The day is celebrated to spread awareness among people to cooperate with the CISF to maintain peace and security in the country. The CISF was established in 1969 under an act of the parliament of India. 

13th March

World Sleep Day

World Sleep Day is an annual event organized by the World Sleep Day Committee of the World Sleep Society. The goal is to celebrate the benefits of good and healthy sleep and to promote the prevention and management of sleep disorders. The theme of World Sleep Day 2020 is “Better Sleep, Better Life, Better Planet”.

14th March

Pi Day

On 14 March Pi Day is celebrated around the world and it is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π. The United States House of Representatives supported the designation of Pi Day. Pi is a symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant. It is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter which is approximately 3.14.

International Day of Action for Rivers

Every year on March 14, the International day of action for rivers is celebrated around the world. This day is celebrated to protect rivers and demand for improving the policies for Rivers.

The International Day of Action for Rivers 2020 theme is “Women, Water, and Climate Change”. As last year around 100 women from 32 countries provided their efforts to protect and defend rivers.

15th March

World Consumer Rights Day

Every year March 15 is observed as World Consumer Rights Day to spread awareness about a consumer’s rights. It is an annual event, to protect the rights of consumers and to ensure that the consumers are not subjected to market abuse or social injustice. The theme of world consumer rights day 2020 is ‘’The Sustainable Consumer’’.

16th March

National Vaccination day

National Vaccination Day is observed every year on 16th March. The day is also known as National Immunization Day. The Government of India celebrates National Vaccination Day every year to spread awareness about the importance and need for vaccination for preventable diseases to the people of the country. The theme of National Vaccination Day 2020 is “Vaccines Work for All”.

18th March

Ordnance Factories Day

18 March is celebrated as the Ordnance Factory Day in India every year. OFB is the world’s largest government-operated production organization, and the oldest organization run by the Government of India. The theme of Ordnance Factories Day 2020 is “Vinashaya Dushkritam”.

20th March

International Day of Happiness

The International Day of Happiness is celebrated around the world on the 20th of March every year. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly on 28 June 2012. This day is celebrated to recognize the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world. The theme for the International Day of Happiness 2020 is “Happiness For All, Together”.

World Sparrow Day

Every year world sparrow day is celebrated around the world on 20 March to spread awareness of the sparrow and other common birds to urban environments, and of threats to their populations. The theme for the 2020 World Sparrow Day is “I LOVE Sparrows”.

World Oral Health Day

World oral is observed every year on 20 March. This campaign is dedicated to spreading awareness of the importance of oral hygiene. The theme of world oral health day 2020 is “Unite for Mouth Health”.

21st March

World Forestry Day

On 21st March, World Forestry Day is celebrated every year to spread awareness about the significance and contributions of the forests to balance the life cycle on the earth. In 1971, World Forestry Day was introduced at the 23rd General Assembly of the European Confederation of Agriculture.

World Down Syndrome day

World down syndrome day is observed on 21 March every year to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes down syndrome. The theme of world syndrome day 2020 is “We Decide”. 

World Poetry Day

21st March is celebrated as World Poetry Day every year with the aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increasing the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard.

22nd March

World Water Day 

World water day is celebrated every year on 22 March to spread awareness about the importance of freshwater. The day is also observed to promote the sustainable management of freshwater resources. The theme of world water day 2020 is Water and Climate Change.

23rd March

World Meteorological Day

World Meteorological Day is celebrated every year on 23 March to commemorate the entry into force in 1950 of the convention that created the World Meteorological Organization. The theme of world meteorological day 2020 is “Climate and Water”.

24th March

World Tuberculosis Day

World tuberculosis day is celebrated every year on 24th  March to create public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and efforts to eliminate the disease. The theme of 2020 world tuberculosis day is ‘’It’s Time’’.

27th March

World Theatre Day

It was initiated in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute. This day is recognized to raise the importance of the art form “theatre”. On this day, ITI hosts a yearly message, spoken by a chosen famous theatre performer, to share their views about the art of theatre and its future.
