Pursuing a degree in management is often attached to it’s monetary essence. It is assumed that if you are a BBA or MBA, you will earn more and work in a MNC. But not always is that true! 

Doing a course is management gives you the edge to be a prolific manager and at the same time, it lets you steer ahead the business. Many people who have done their management degrees have gone out to serve as the CEOs of big companies. 

While many people chose to change their careers but are still thankful that they could study such a great degree. 

Following are some of the great personalities who have done a great job in the field of management and some who switched their careers yet managed to be successful. 

1. Indra Nooyi, PepsiCo

Indra Nooyi is one of those people who did her management from IIM Calcutta and she never imagined that she would be the CEO of PepsiCo. But her sheer determination and her experience in working with some of the best companies gave her this opportunity. She brought in a changeover in the company by combining sustainability in the business model such as using alternatives to plastics and conservation of water supplies near the factories. 

2. Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook

Though Facebook is the brainchild of Mark Zuckerberg, it was Sheryl who helped the company in making huge profits. She is a product of Harvard Business school and surely the skills learnt there has contributed immensely to her work. Sheryl has even written a book on how there is still a lack of women in leadership positions in business and politics. 

3. John Abraham, Actor

Not many people know this, but the Bollywood actor, John Abraham has actually done his graduation in economics and a MBA from the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. It was later that he began his career in modelling but he actually had plans of joining business. 

4. Sachin Pilot, Politician 

Sachin Pilot was the Minister of Corporate Affairs and is said to have a promising political career. He did his management from Wharton Business school, and worked for General Motors, before steering his way into the political sphere. 

5. Raghuram Rajan, Economist

Even though Raghuram Rajan is a well known world wide Economist, he has done a masters in management from IIM Ahmedabad. He joined the Tata Administrative Services as a management trainee but later left it to pursue PhD. Later he wrote many articles and books on the financial status of our country, and became a well known Economist. 

6. Ajay Banga, MasterCard 

Ajay completed his management from IIM Ahmedabad and became the CEO of Mastercard from 2010. He worked in many good companies before joining MasterCard. He is also a member of the World Economic Forum. 

7. Melinda Gates, Microsoft

Melinda’s success in the business industry is hugely appreciated by all. She had done her management from Duke University and her sharp business skills can be attributed to what she studied there. 

8. Tim Cook, Apple

Tim Cook was a director at IBM before joining Apple as Senior Vice President. He also completed his management from Duke University and joined Apple shortly within 10 years of graduating from Duke. His efforts towards sustainability and environmental protection is much appreciated in the business realm.

9. Aruna Jayanthi, Capgemini

Jayanthi holds a management degree from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. She joined Capgemini in 2000 and is now the Managing Director of Capgemini’s Asia Pacific and Latin America business unit. She has won many accolades to her name and is also a council member of NASSCOM. 

So by following this list of famous people, you can make out that it’s not about what you will do in your profession, it’s all about learning the skills and knowledge in business school that helps you in all walks of life.
