BHMCT IPU is the short form of the Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering (BHMCT) program offered by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, more widely known as Indraprastha University. Any student who has completed a 10+2 course with 50% marks and English as a subject is considered eligible to appear for IPU CET BHMCT, the entrance exam to get admissions to this program. The students are given admission for BHMCT IPU, based on the rank and marks they score in this entrance exam.
BHMCT IPU Course Structure
Overview
The duration of the BHMCT IPU program is 4 years, which is divided into 8 semesters. The courses covered during these semesters include food and beverage service, facility planning, hotel law, and licensing, housekeeping operations, front office operations, food production, and patisserie, research project design, etc. The program helps students to gain knowledge about the operational skills required in the hospitality industry. There will also be opportunities for various national and international events as well as industrial training, that will benefit the student.
The time of commencement of classes is as follows:
- Odd Semesters: August to December
- Even Semesters: January to June
Marking Scheme
To graduate in BHMCT IPU, the student should attain at least 190 of the total 200 credits offered. Having 40% marks in a paper would lead to the student passing that particular course. There will be both internal and external evaluations and the breaking up of marks and percentages of these according to the theoretical and practical sections, is as follows:
