IPU CET BHMCT is the entrance test for the BHMCT program offered by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, more widely known as Indraprastha University. Any student who has completed a 10+2 course with 50% marks and English as a subject is considered eligible to appear for IPU CET BHMCT. The BHMCT IPU entrance exam tests the knowledge of accounts, commerce, and science apart from regular areas like Verbal Ability, Reasoning, and GK tested in other hotel management entrance tests. It gets you admitted into the IP University hotel management courses such as the Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering (BHMCT).

The primary step of preparing for any exam is understanding its pattern and syllabus. The exam, which is conducted in an online mode will have 100 questions to be answered in 2.5 hours. Each correct answer is given 4 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.

Syllabus of IPU CET BHMCT

IPU BHMCT entrance exam question paper contains four sections:

  • English Language and Comprehension
  • Logical and Analytical Ability including Computer awareness
  • General Awareness
  • Knowledge of accounts/ commerce and science

Each correct answer is given 4 marks and for every wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted. It is the final score and rank that a candidate obtains in this exam that leads to their selection for the IPU BHMCT.

The last section Knowledge of accounts/commerce and science is specific to accounts and commerce used in the hospitality section. So, you need to prepare yourself with all the basic concepts of commerce and accounts taught in classes 11th and 12th in the commerce stream.

Section-wise Preparation Tips for IPU CET BHMCT

There are a few things you can do to prepare yourself for each section of the IPU CET BHMCT. Given below are tips regarding each section of the exam, that will help you to be the maximum productive while preparing for the exam:

1. Logical and Analytical Ability including Computer awareness

The two important concerns when it comes to this section are the number of questions you get right and the time you take to answer them. To prepare for this section, refresh your memory on the basic concepts of math you learned in school. You would also have to constantly practice solving questions to improve your speed. Try to understand the different ways a single question can be asked. During the exam, make sure to not linger long on a particular question if you don’t know how to solve it. Come back to the difficult ones after answering everything else, to save time. You can use the following books for preparations:

3. General Awareness

To prepare for this section, make sure that you know what is going on in the world. Read newspapers daily and stay updated on events around the world. 4. Knowledge of accounts/commerce

Questions of this section are based on the basic theories and knowledge in commerce and accounting. Students who took up the commerce stream in their 11th and 12th may find this section easy, as they would have studied all the concepts there. The books you can refer to for this section are:
