Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Raj Kumar Singh has launched the Pan-India Green Term Ahead Market (GTAM) for electricity
GTAM will be the World’s First Exclusive Product Market for the renewable energy sector.
It will increase the number of participants in the renewable energy sector and benefit consumers with competitive prices.

Usha Padhee becomes first female DG of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security
Usha Padhee is the Joint secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, who has been given additional charge of DG, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
She is the first woman and third IAS officer to take up this role.
She will be succeeding IPS officer Rakesh Asthana in this role.

Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has appointed VK Yadav as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
VK Yadav is the the current chairman of the Railway Board.
This is part of the Railway Board restructuring project, where eight railway-related wings will be merged into a single central service called the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) is underway

Private members bills are introduced in the legislature by the legislator who is not acting on behalf of executive branch

India attends BIMSTEC meet
India attended BIMSTEC meet on September 2nd to discuss ways to expand cooperation among its member countries
BIMSTEC’s member countries are Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan, Nepal
It is a crucial platform for India, as cooperation within SAARC has frozen due to Pakistan’s involvement.

Chinese Navy the largest in the world as per US report
As per US’ Annual Defence Report:
- China has five theatre commands, with the Western command oriented towards India
- Its official budget is thrice in amount to that of India
- China’s recent economic policy is based on innovation through three schemes— Made in China 2025, One Belt One Road, and Digital Silk Road.
- China aims to build world class military which is superior to the US by 2049
This is an important report for India in view of increased Chinese influence in Indian Ocean, including Djibouti, Horn of Africa and Gwadar and Karachi ports, Pakistan

India’s Secretive Special Frontier Force
The Special Frontier Force (SSF), or Establishment 22, consists of commandos who were Tibetan refugees who took shelter in India after the Tibetan uprising.
The SSF was established after the 1962 Indo-China war.
SSF is not a part of the Indian Army officially, and operates under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister of India
Tibetan member of the SFF unit died near the site of recent Indo-China border face-offs near Pangong Tso lake.
