First image of black hole magnetic field created

Scientists working on the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) have created an image showing the magnetic field around a black hole.

This blackhole is located in the M87 galaxy.

The image will help scientists in understanding how powerful jets of radiation are emitted by black holes.

India to set up its biggest floating solar power plant in Telangana

India will be setting up its biggest floating solar power plant in Ramagundam, Telangana.

The plant is scheduled to be ready by May 2021.

The current largest floating solar power plant is located in Banasura Sagar reservoir in Wayanad, Kerala.

GoI announces National Register for Driving Licenses

  1. Remove the duplication of driving licences in India

Indian Railways achieves record electrification

Indian Railways has achieved its highest ever electrification of sections during the year 2020-21. 

In 2020-21, 6015km of electrification was done. 

This electrification is 37% higher than that achieved in the previous year.

Men’s Boxing World Championship 2023 to be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan will be hosting the 22nd edition of the Men’s Boxing World Championship in 2023.

This will be its first time hosting the event on its soil.

Uzbekistan is one of the most active members of the International Boxing Association.

Labour Bureau launches surveys on domestic migrant workers

The surveys launched are All-India Survey of Migrant Workers and All-India Quarterly Establishment based Employment Survey (AQEES).

The survey methodology is path-breaking due to its ‘no-paper data collection’ approach which would decrease time taken for survey by 30-40%

The surveys aim to study working and living conditions faced by migrant workers and impact of COVID 19 on their worklife.
