They have been said to have come from Ethiopia and Somalia after crossing Saudi Arabia, Iran and Pakistan.

Desert Locusts are from the grasshoppers family and feed on green vegetation and crops

They are a major problem this year as they are invading in wind direction, and may come in in more unpredictable waves as the wind direction changes
