A unique Urban Forest inaugurated at CAG Office, New Delhi
The urban forest will have thirty times the surface area of single-layered lawns.
It will be grown using the Miyawaki method invented by Japanese Botanist Akira Miyawaki
Using this method will increase the moisture of the forest by more than 40% and reduce the surrounding temperature by up to 14 degrees.
In Miyawaki method, native species are grown very close together so that they receive sunlight only from the top, thus increasing their vertical growth and decreasing their horizontal spread. The plants thus require minimal space and grow much faster.

Konkan Maritime Cluster: India’s first maritime cluster in Goa
Maritime clusters are linked to port-led development and industrialisation under India’s Project Sagarmala
The Konkan Maritime Cluster will be a consortium of 49 Goan enterprises,which will together set up a world-class common facility for manufacturing, design and allied services for the shipbuilding industry.
Quick Fact: Sagarmala Programme is a GoI initiative to boost the performance of India’s logistics sector using the potential of waterways and coastline.

Sixth Edition of Swachh Survekshan Survey to be conducted in 2021
The survey was started in 2016 to encourage Indian cities to improve their urban sanitation.
The Ministry responsible for the survey is Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
A new category of awards under the title of ‘Prerak Dauur Samman’ has been added to the 2021 Swachh Survekshan survey. The categories under it will be: Platinum (Divya), Bronze (Udit), Silver (Ujjwal), Gold (Anupam), and Aspiring (Arohi).
