First consignment of Kashmir walnuts flagged off

The first consignment of Kashmiri walnuts was flagged off from Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir recently.

The project has been taken under the “One District, One Product” of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The consignment was sent recognising the large-scale import of walnuts into India despite the huge availability of Kashmir walnuts.

Quick Fact: 90% of India’s walnut production is from Kashmir.

New drug to treat Covid-19 ‘Molnupiravir’

Pharma company “Merch and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics” announced the early results of the Phase-3 trials of an anti-viral drug called Molnupiravir.

Molnupiravir has reduced the chances of hospitalization by half among COVID 19 patients with mild or moderate symptoms.

Molnupiravir has been named as “EIDD 2801” by the company where ‘E’ indicates it was developed at Emory University.

Quick Fact: The first known case of COVID-19 was identified in Wuhan, China in 2019.

NOAA’s National Centre for Environmental Information stated that August 2021 was 6th hottest month on the Earth in 142 years.

Asia had its 2nd warmest August while Africa had its 3rd warmest August.

January-August ranks as the 6th warmest period ever recorded on Earth.

The tiger rallies were started across 51 reserves as part of “Wildlife Week Celebration” and “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

The rallies were kicked off with the theme “India for Tigers- A Rally on Wheels”.
