India ranks third on ‘Global E-waste Monitor 2020’

The ‘Global E-waste Monitor 2020’ report has been published by the United Nations

As per the report:

  1.  53.6 million tonnes of e-waste was generated globally in 2019, out of which only 17.4 percent was recycled
  2. India was the third largest contributor to e-waste
  3. China topped the list, with USA coming in second as the highest producers of e-waste

The partnership has been for two joint ventures:

  1. Facebook will train teachers on Augmented Reality, who will then teach the same in classes

World Bank’s Country Classification 2020 released

World Bank classifies countries into four income groups- Low,  Lower-Middle, Upper-Middle and High Income countries

The classification is based on Gross National Income using the Atlas Method

As per the classification, India, Nepal and Bangladesh are all Lower-Middle income countries
