State Bank of India will launch a loan product named SAFAL for organic cotton growers

SAFAL stands for Safe and Fast Agriculture Loan.

It is primarily meant to benefit organic cotton growers who don’t have any credit history.

New technologies Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning will be used for SAFAL

ISA hosts World Solar Technology Summit

The 1st World Solar Technology Summit was held virtually on 8th September 2020

It was organised by the International Solar Alliance (ISA) along with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI)

The main aim was to explore and discuss state-of-the-art technologies and next-generation technologies related to solar energy

A keynote address was presented by Nobel Laureate Dr Michael Stanley Whittingham who won the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for revolutionizing discovery of the lithium-ion batteries.

Five Star Village Scheme to ensure 100% rural coverage of postal schemes launched

Department of Posts has launched a scheme called the ‘Five Star Villages’. 

The scheme will ensure universal coverage of flagship postal schemes in Indian rural areas. 

The scheme aims to create public awareness about postal services and products in the remotest villages.

The scheme will be implemented by a team of Gramin Dak Sevaks headed by the Branch Post Master.
