India and Afghanistan beat China to become a member of the CSW.

The CSW is the principal global intergovernmental body dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women.

‘The Disciple’ wins The Best Screenplay at The Venice International Film Festival.

This was the 77th edition of The Venice Film Festival and it was webcasted amid the COVID 19 outbreak.

TRAI to regulate cloud service providers.

TRAI intends to set up an industry body and recommends a “Light Touch Regulatory Framework” for cloud service providers. 

The Department of Telecom has given a nod to TRAI to proceed with the same.

The industry body is to work in close contact with the Department of Telecom or TRAI

The Department of Telecom has also asked the service providers to become its members

Asian Development Bank (ADB) predicts Asian Economy to shrink for the first time since 1960.

ADB predicts that due to the pandemic, the Asian economy will shrink for the first time since 1960.

It predicts that the GDP of the region will fall by 0.7%

For India, the GDP will fall by 7%, due to a sharp fall in private spending amid the lockdown due to COVID 19.

According to the prediction, China might tackle the fall in GDP due to successful public health measures.

Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Bill, 2020 introduced in the Lok Sabha

The bill seeks the control to regulate assisted reproductive technology services in the country and to ensure ethical practices.

It will make it mandatory for fertility clinics and banks to register with a national registering authority.

Age based restrictions are also to be introduced for both men and women.

Quick Fact: Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is the procedure to address infertility and can also be called Fertility Treatment. IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) is also a type of ART

Inauguration and Foundation stone of seven Urban Infrastructure projects in Bihar, laid by PM Narendra Modi.

Inauguration of seven projects in Bihar, related to urban infrastructure was done by PM Narendra Modi through video conferencing.

The projects are under ‘Namami Gange’ and ‘AMRUT’ Schemes.

Of the seven projects, 4 are related to water supply, 2 for sewage treatment and one for riverfront development.

The total cost of these projects is 541 crores.
