Directions to Check Influx from Myanmar
The states Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh have received directions from the Home Ministry to check the illegal influx from Myanmar.
India already has seen influx of Rohingyas who have migrated from Myanmar.
Refugee status to a foreigner cannot be granted by the state governments.

Preservation of Palamau Tiger Reserve
The Government of Jharkhand has been in the process of convincing the central government not to lay the third Broad Gauge Rail Line in the core area of the Palamau Tiger Reserve.
The reserve is bounded by the Anuranga river on its north and the North Koel river on the west.
The Palamau Tiger Reserve spreads over three districts namely Latehaar, Garhwa, and Lohardaga.

Rakhigarhi to be Developed as Iconic Archaeological Site
The Ministry of State of Culture and Tourism has recently said that Rakhigarhi will be developed as one of the five iconic archeological sites.
Union Budget 2020 has announced 5 iconic archeological sites which will be developed by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI).
Along with Rakhigarhi, the sites being developed under 5 iconic archeological sites are Shivsagar (Assam), Hastinapur (Uttar Pradesh), Dholavira (Gujarat), and Adichanallur (Tamil Nadu).
Quick Fact: Rakhigarhi is one of the largest Harappan sites in India.

Supreme Court’s Template for State Election Commissioners
The Supreme Court said that election commissioners across the country should be independent and SECs are not persons holding office with the state government or central government.
This observation was given by the Supreme Court in a case related to the Municipal Elections in Goa.
The Government of Goa moved the Supreme Court against the High Court ruling which had quashed an order passed by the government of Goa determining the seat reservation in wards of Municipal Councils.

Project RE-HAB To Reduce Human-Elephant Conflicts
Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) launched a unique project of creating bee fences to reduce the conflicts between human-elephant in the country.
The objective of this project is to reduce the attacks of elephants in human habitations using honey bees.
The KVIC launched project RE-HAB in four locations around Chelur village in Kodagu district and these locations are at the periphery of the Nagarahole National Park and Tiger Reserve.
Quick Fact: Project RE-HAB is a sub mission of the KVICs National Honey Mission

Centre Vs Delhi
The Central Home Ministry has moved a bill named Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021 in the Lok Sabha.
The bill gives discretionary powers to the Lieutenant Governor even in matters where Delhi’s Legislative Assembly is empowered to make laws.
