Operation Ganga is a mission launched by the Government of India to evacuate people from Ukraine.
Due to the Russia-Ukraine tensions, the Indian government has begun Operation Ganga, an evacuation campaign to evacuate Indian nationals from Ukraine.
Because of the growing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, the authorities have proclaimed Ukraine a no-fly zone for the safety and security of both countries. As a result, a large number of Indian nationals have been left stuck in Ukraine.
To assist Indian residents in returning to their homeland, the Indian government decided to launch Operation Ganga, a special evacuation expedition. Indian nationals would be flown back by the government.
Appointments
IDBI Bank’s MD & CEO Rakesh Sharma has been re-appointed.
The board of directors of the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI Bank) has accepted Rakesh Sharma’s reappointment as managing director and chief executive officer for a three-year term.
The banking regulator, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has approved Sharma’s reappointment as MD&CEO of the bank.

Giriraj Singh has launched an Ombudsperson App for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
Giriraj Singh, the Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, has released an Ombudsperson App for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
The Ministry of Rural Development has developed an Ombudsperson App to facilitate the reporting and categorization of grievances by the Ombudsperson based on complaints received from various sources, including physical, digital, and mass media, regarding the Mahatma Gandhi NREG Scheme’s implementation in the States/UTs.
Sports
At the Singapore Weightlifting International, Mirabai Chanu takes gold.
On February 25, 2022, Mirabai Chanu, an Indian weightlifter and 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist, won the gold medal in the 55kg weight category in the Singapore Weightlifting International 2022.
Chanu, who is 27 years old, has qualified in the 55kg weight category for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Her Commonwealth ranks have also qualified her for the Commonwealth Games in the 49kg weight category.
Quick Fact: At the Singapore Weightlifting International 2022, Chanu lifted 191kg (86kg+105kg) to win the gold medal.
Awards
President’s Colours are presented to four parachute battalions by Army Chief MM Naravane.
At the Parachute Regiment Training Centre in Bengaluru, Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane awarded Presidential Colors to four parachute battalions.
The 11 Para (Special Forces), 21 Para (Special Forces), 23 Para, and 29 Para battalions are the four battalions.
President’s Colours is one of the greatest honours awarded on a military unit in acknowledgment of outstanding service to the country, both during war and peace.
Quick Fact: ‘Nishan’ is the name of the President’s Colours award.
