22 satellites are launched into space by China’s Long March-8 rocket.
China’s second Long March 8 rocket successfully launched 22 satellites for a variety of commercial Chinese space enterprises, setting a new domestic record. The Long March 8 launched from the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center, with the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) later confirming launch success.
Commercial remote sensing services, maritime environment monitoring, forest fire prevention, and catastrophe mitigation will be the primary uses for these satellites.

National Affairs
Think tank GoI, The Niti Aayog is working on a National Gender Index. Â
A National Gender Index is being developed by NITI Aayog. The National Gender Index’s goal is to track progress and identify persistent gaps in gender equality so that policymakers may make informed decisions.
It will be used to track the success of India’s states and union territories on specific gender metrics and lay the groundwork for positive change.

Under the Appscale Academy programme, Google and MeitY will train 100 Indian businesses.
As part of the Appscale Academy programme, the MeitY Startup Hub, an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and Google have announced a cohort of 100 early to mid-stage Indian entrepreneurs.
MeitY and Google have established Appscale Academy, a new growth and development programme for businesses that aims to assist and train early- to mid-stage startups across India in developing high-quality apps and games for a worldwide audience.

Appointments
Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan has been appointed as the NAAC’s chairperson.Â
Professor Bhushan Patwardhan, an educationist and research scientist, has been named chairman of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) executive committee in Bengaluru by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
After Prof Jagadish Kumar was named head of the UGC, the job became vacant.
Prof Patwardhan is a renowned professor at Savitribai Phule Pune University’s Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences, as well as a national research professor designated by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India (SPPU).
Sports
Saurabh Chaudhary of India won gold in the 10m air pistol at the ISSF World Cup.
Saurabh Chaudhary, an Indian shooter, has won the gold medal in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol event at the 2022 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup, which is now taking place in Cairo, Egypt.
Michael Schwald of Germany took home the silver medal, while Artem Chernousov of Russia took home the bronze.
Quick Fact: In the women’s 10m air pistol event, Esha Singh won a silver medal representing the country.
