First woman officer of the Indian Air Force Vijayalakshmi Ramanan passes away
The first woman officer of the Indian Air Force, Wing Commander (retd) Dr Vijaylakshmi Ramanan passed away.
Dr Vijayalakshmi Ramanand had done her MBBS and later was commissioned in the Army Medical Corps.
Ramanan was promoted to the rank of Wing Commander in August 1972.
She was also honoured with the Vishist Seva Medal.
Quick Fact: Apart from being a doctor, Ramanan was also trained in Carnatic music and had been an artist with the All India Radio at a very young age.

First-ever khadi Fabric Footwear launched by India
Union Minister for MSME, Nitin Gadkari has launched the first-ever high quality Khadi Fabric Footwear of India.
The launch took place on 21st October.
The footwear was designed by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
Footwears are to bear the paintings from across India, including the Madhubani painting.
Quick Fact: The footwears are made of Khadi fabric such as Silk, Cotton and Wool.

LG Electronics named Lewis Hamilton a global ambassador LG Signature.
LG Signature is home solutions brand of LG Electronics.
As the Global ambassador, Hamilton will be seen communicating the brand’s philosophy.
As per the new campaign, he will share with audiences his thoughts on how to lead a stylish, sophisticated life, and what motivates him to be the best in his field.
Quick Fact: Headquarters of LG Electronics is located in South Korea and the chairman is Kwang-Mo Koo.

INS Kavaratti has been commissioned into the Indian Navy
The Indian Naval Ship Kavaratti was commissioned into the Indian Navy on October 22.
The ship was commissioned in Visakhapatnam.
INS Kavaratti is one among the four indigenously built anti-submarine Warfare stealth corvettes under the Kamorta class Corvettes or project 28.
The ship comprises of a sensor suite which is capable of “detecting and prosecuting” submarines.
Quick Fact:INS Kavaratti was designed by the Directorate of Naval Design(DND) and has been built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, Kolkata.

‘e-Dharti Geo portal’ launched
‘e-Dharti Geo portal’ was launched by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The portal aims to integrate the legacy drawings including the maps and lease plans in the management information system.
The portal makes the maps and lease plans geographic information system (GIS)-enabled.
The land and development office provides a property certificate incorporating details and the outline map of the property which can now be accessed online on the portal.

Economist Dr Jayanta Madhab passes away
Renowned Assamese economist, Dr Jayanta Madhab passed away.
He had worked as financial adviser to Calcutta Metropolitan Development Corp.
He had served as a director at the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
He had also served as the financial advisor of Assam’s Chief Minister from 2003-2009.
Quick Fact: Dr. Jayanta Madhav was the founder chairman of North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) has released The Future of Jobs Report 2020.
This is the 3rd edition of the report.
According to the report, the COVID-19 will disrupt more than 85 million jobs by 2025.
The report was prepared by the WEF on the basis of the projections of Senior Business leaders of more than 300 Global firms.
