The World Unani Day is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of the great Unani scholar and social reformer Hakim Ajmal Khan.

Through the celebration of World Unani Day, it is sought to spread awareness about health care delivery through the Unani system of medicine through its preventive and curative philosophy.

This system of medicine was introduced in India by the Arabs and Persians around the eleventh century and it forms a part of the AYUSH system of medicines.

India’s Hockey forward Lalremsiami named as 2019 FIH Women’s Rising Star of Year

India forward Lalremsiami has been named as the 2019 FIH Women’s Rising Star of the Year by the International Hockey Federation.

She was awarded this prize ahead of Argentina’s Julieta Jankunas and Frederique Matla of the Netherlands.

She was one of the stand-out players of the Hockey Women’s World Cup in 2018.

Pullela Gopichand honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award by International Olympic Committee

India’s Chief badminton coach P Gopichand has has been awarded International Olympic Committee’s Coaches Lifetime Award in the male category of the 2019.

Gopichand has also founded the Gopichand Badminton Academy in 2008 where he grooms young Badminton players. He has coached Saina Nehwal, PV Sandhu among others.

Mr. Gopichand has also received numerous accolades including Arjuna award (1999), Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna (2001), Padma Shri (2005), Dronacharya award (2009) and Padma Bhushan (2014).

The Vice-President of Vietnam coming for an official visit to India

Vice President of Vietnam Dang Thai Ngoc Thinh is on an ofcial visit to India (11th to 13thFeb 2020).

During her visit delegation-level talks will be held with her counterpart Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu

Direct flight between India and Vietnam is also likely to be announced during her visit.

Kaamya Karthikeyan youngest girl to climb Mt Aconcagua

India’s Kaamya Karthikeyan became the youngest girl in the world to summit Mount Aconcagua (6962-meter) the highest peak in South America.

Mt. Aconcagua located in Andes mountain range in Argentina is one of the so-called Seven Summits of the seven continents.

Quick Facts: The Seven Summits are the highest mountains of each of the seven continents. The seven summits are: Everest, Aconcagua, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Vinson, Elbrus, Puncak Jaya (the Messner version)
