Understanding the IPMAT syllabus is the first task candidates should undertake while beginning their IPMAT preparation.

IIM Indore conducts the IPMAT exam every year to screen potential candidates for the IIM IPM course. IIM IPM is a 5-year long course that allows the students to attain a dual degree in the period. During the first three years, students will be learning the BBA course curriculum and later moving to the MBA curriculum. This particular IIM Indore integrated course is for students who want to have a career in the business world.

IIM Indore IPM Admission Criteria

Students with a minimum of 60% marks in their 10th and 12th grades are eligible for applying for the IIM Indore IPMAT exam. 5% relaxation is given to the students belonging to the SC/ST/PWD. The IIM Indore selection criteria are based on the IPMAT exam score.

Marking Scheme for MCQ type questions: 

Each correct answer will give you a score of +4 marks

Each wrong answer will give you a score of -1 mark.

Section-Wise IPMAT Syllabus

1. Quantitative Ability (SA and MCQ)
  • In the IPMAT, the Quantitative Section has short answer type questions as well as Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).
  • This section has a total of 30 questions.
  • You need to be thorough with the mathematics topics from 9th grade to 12th grade to score maximum marks in both sections
  • Time management is crucial. Practice many questions to improve your speed.
  • The topics covered by the section are:

Arithmetic:

Number System, Profit and loss, ratio and proportion, Data Interpretation, Time and Work, Simple and Compound Interest, Percentage, Average and Allegation.

Higher Maths: 

Functions, Limits and Continuity, Logarithm, Trigonometry, Probability, Permutation and Combination, Binomial Theorem, Calculus, Complex Numbers, Complex Numbers, Coordinate Geometry.

2. Verbal Ability
  • Your English Language proficiency is analyzed in this section.
  • The majority of questions are related to Reading Comprehension, Grammar, and vocabulary. 
  • Working on improving your grammar is key. Reading regularly can help you in this regard as well as other aspects like vocabulary.
  • The topics covered by the section are:

Reading Comprehension, Word Analogy, Vocabulary, Explicit and Implicit Inferences, Grammar, Word Meaning, Para Jumbles, Sentence Completion, Synonym and Antonym, Idioms/ Proverbs, Statements-Arguments, Homonyms.

IPMAT Preparation Strategies  

1. Understand the Syllabus

Going through the syllabus is crucial to get an idea of the topics you have to focus on. It will also help you in understanding which topics you should focus more on. You have to be thorough with the syllabus to move forward with your preparation.
